Call for papers:Special Issue on Defence Manufacturing Technology

Manufacturing Technologies play a vital role in the fabrication of all defence platforms and in an attempt to progressively improve performance, capability and availability. Manufacturing is undergoing major changes due to the unforeseen challenges arising from the current trend of miniaturization, the emergence of new materials and the growing interaction between nature and human beings to learn more from nature and living objects. Traditionally, a "top-down" approach has been used in manufacturing. Recently, engineers and scientists have begun exploring "bottom-up" approaches for manufacturing today's highly complex products. Further, these emerging processes are aimed to improve process efficiency and product quality which are very much essential in Defence applications. In the above context Defence Technology proposes to it is proposed to bring out special issue on ‘Defence Manufacturing Technology’ during the year 2017 and is of inter disciplinary. This special issue will serve as a global platform for technocratic, practicing engineers, academicians, researchers and student community to share their knowledge.
Defence Technology invites to submit research papers and review papers in the areas related to ‘Defence Manufacturing Technology’. Papers relevant to the scope of Defence Technology include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
1.Manufacturing issues and challenges in critical sectors like Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, space, heavy engineering and shipbuilding.
2.Advanced manufacturing processes, including mechanical, chemical and thermal processes for metal & alloys, composites, ceramics, glass, natural and artificial fibres, polymers and bio materials.
3.Casting, Forming, machining and joining and assembly at micro and macro scales.
4.Modelling and simulation of Manufacturing processes - multi-physics models and simulation; virtual manufacturing
5.Rapid prototyping, agile manufacturing, stereo lithography & 3-D fabrication techniques & imprint lithography.
6.Metrology, inspection, monitoring, control and automation.
7.Mechanical and metallurgical issues pertaining to manufacturing processes
8.Computer aided manufacturing and manufacturing systems - cyber-physical production systems
9.Machine- machine, machine-system and system-system collaboration
10.Additive and subtractive manufacturing, microfluidics, nano-electronics, nano-systems, micro-electromechanical systems, nano-materials, interconnects (nano to meso to macro)
Best Paper published in this special issue will be awarded with and certificate and this award will be based on the originality of the research and its special contribution to Defence Technology. Special awards will be awarded to research scholars for their excellent research contributions.
