Call for papers: Special Issue on "Materials Joining"
Defence Technology (DT)
Welding and joining play a key role in the fabrication of all defence platforms and in an attempt to progressively improve performance, capability and availability， it is likely that new challenges will arise in the joining technology area. In particular higher strength materials and lighter weight structures are likely to be used. As the strength of the materials increase the weldability issues can dictate whether the fabrication is feasible and what procedural constraints are imposed. In addition the requirement for improved productivity and sustainable manufacture of components that are used in various defence application mean that advanced welding processes and manufacturing technologies must be evaluated. The increased use of newer materials adds to the challenge of joining and fabrication in sectors that manufacture defence components. In the above context Defence Technology proposed to bring out special issue on ‘Materials joining’ during the year 2015 and is of inter disciplinary. This special issue will serve as a global platform for technocratic, practicing engineers, academicians, researchers and student community to share their knowledge.
Defence Technology invites to submit research papers and review papers in the areas related to ‘Materials joining’. The scope of this special issue pertains to all welding, joining and coating techniques inclusive of brazing and soldering. This special issue looks for articles that emphasis the aspects related to joining for materials such as Mechanical Testing and characterisation of welded joints, surface engineering : corrosion & Wear, Advanced modelling techniques, computer applications, Structure-property Correlation, innovative welding process and machines for special applications and joining of novel materials like plastics, ceramics, glass and composites. This special issue invites papers on Materials joining pertaining to all applications.
Best Paper published in this special issue will be awarded with certificate and this award will be based on the originality of the research and its special contribution to Defence Technology.
